Superb shot, love the light. Great comp. Love how the machinery in the FG looks rather delicate and intricate, a bit like the bare branches in the BG.

I like the tones in this shot, but I think the cart(?) is lost to a degree in the trees behind it. If you could move round either side I think it would be an improvement.
How do you rate the 17-85 lens (I assume its the EFS mount)?

Hello Tim, when I opened up this scene it became compulsive viewing...the composition is excellent with such beauty all around the old hay rake especially well featured is the grasses and the pond. I love the sky detail as well, overall very impressive work. One little distraction is the modern bit of blue man made rope. Thanks for sharing.

What a photo, like an old master painting. Every detail is perfect and the rope doesn't bother me as it ties in with the blue of the sky.

this is great, painting like. Love the whole composition and the colours in the shot. The old machinary brings it all together perfectly but I agree that the rope is a bit of a spoiler for the olde world feel, although as mentioned above it does complement the blue sky.

Nice work!

Thank you all for your very generous comments!

Matt, I am glad you like this one, I thought about taking out the blue rope, but I have to say I feel the same way about it as Pip! (sorry Doug!)

Adam, yes the cart is lost a little in the shadow, but moving around definately wouldn't be the solution, I may have to try a step ladder though next time, it would give me a little more perspective to play with. The new EF-S lens seems perfect so far, on a par with the 28-135 IS USM and probably more appropriate for 1.6x DSLR users.

All your comments are greatly appreciated!
