Very nice shot! I think it would be better if the whole of the insect was in focus cos the patterns on the back look very interesting!

Thanks for this image---A very interesting bug--It is very difficult to get an entire insect in focus at this close range. A head on shot is a good alternative.

Wow! What a capture! I was at London Zoo last week and enjoyed the "Bug World" exhibit but met the limitations of my amateur camera (Fuji Finepix S3000) when I tried to take macro shots of some of the iinsects. : ( Time to upgrade methinks!!!

Thank you all for such kind and generous comments!

it would be great to have had more depth of field but I was kind of looking for the shallow precise focus on the head in this one. I have others where the whole body is in focus and they are a completely different style.

All comments are greatly appreciated!

Excellent focus and good use of the shallow DOF Tim. Another first rate macro shot. The detail and colour density are spot on

I don't usually comment on the insect shots, but the closeness, the detail and the shallow DOF really caught me here.

Well DOne and CLick

I wouldn't like this on my wall, but I admire your skill in capturing this image. You've even managed to get good colour contrast between subject and background. Click.
