Nice shot but a bit to much of the hedge for me.The interest seems to be all in the top half and while the colours in the hedge(is it a hedge?)are great they seem to make the composition a little less powerfull for me.Its just my opinion but its still a nice image.

I agree with Dave, needs at least 3/4 of the hedge trimmed off, otherwise a very nice picture.

Disagree with that! The generous amount of hedge makes the composition. The russet leaves in the hedge balance the misty greens in the BG too - spot on.

Nicely done and well seen, not sure whether less hedge or not, but perhaps a touch less.

Many thanks for all your superb comments!

OK those people who have never seen a vineyard in autumn before can be excused for thinking that this big orange field of grape vines is a 'hedge?'!!! - I guess the compression could explain that mistake...

In a recent exhibition, a much larger version of this picture seemed to have the reverse response "Wow, I love those copper orange coloured vines!"

LOL!

I actually like the proportion of foreground to background in this shot. The trees in the middle ground look amazing, as though painted by one of the masters.
Superb.

A 'painted' feel to this very good shot - like the 'olde world' feel proved by the smokey tractor

I agree about the painted and old world feel. The tractor is nice as well as the background atmosphere. My first reaction was to want more backround and to crop the foreground to the rule of thirds. However, you would lose the vine stalks in the foreground if you did that.

Very nice.

Everything perfect, but I would have cropped some of the hedge out and focussed more on the tractor. Great otherwise *click*

Love this as it is, the vines in the foreground add depth, I'm sure a larger uncompressed version would be stunning ....click

lovely atmosphere, would have liked to have seen more of those elusive gray shades & tones in the distance, a little less hedge? - great comp. just the same

Wow! thank you all for your superb comments...

Congratulations Rob and Bill, you were the only ones to acknowledge the existence of the vines!

For that you win the CELESTUN PRIZE!!! - awarded to those who can tell the difference between a field of vines and a HEDGE... (???)

Even those who thought they saw a messy hedge in the foreground can be forgiven! Your comments are always greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Tim

Hedge, vines, whats the difference? (It does look a lot like a beech hedge!) Its the way it works with the comp I like. Its time people cast this 'rule of thirds' thing from their mind and started thinking out of the box a bit!
