le tour toujours

By chant
Taken yesterday afternoon as the Tour de France passed south of where we live. Never having witnessed it before, we didn't know what to expect. It was brilliant!

Next time though, we'll take a picnic!

I really like this, but its a shame the guy furthest left is cropped.

Hi Ian,

not passing this off as an excuse, honest, but it's a difficult crop to make, plus I'd hoped the focus would be on the rider in white, rather than what's happening at either end of the shot. Also, you wouldn't believe the speed these guys race at. Even though I chose a spot along the road where I'd have plenty of time to compose the shot, they still whizz by so fast. I only managed 5 shots of the peloton in total. I purposefully didn't use burst mode, as I was focusing manually, and I often find that combined with burst = blurred images for some reason.

Anyway, glad you liked it, despite the dodgy crop. Wink

It's so difficult to capture road racing, without one of the riders being cropped, they go by so fast and usually as a spectator, you only have one chance at capturing them, so I don't find this too distracting. I like the panoramic crop and it looks sunny and sharp.
A good place to look for shots of the tour is he is one of the best cycling photographers in the world.
