Kimmeridge Fog

By marktc
Believe it or not this is the same day that No processing required was taken. This is just a 15 minute drive from Swanage, but the very low cloud and sea fog had come in. I was the only person down at the beach area and it was quiet and spooky.

I've anguished about uploading this as it's almost monotone and the features across the bay are almost indistinct in the fog, that added to the long exposure and the sea, being so grey, all bring doubts to mind, but then it's how the day had become! The question remains can you get a picture in bad weather?

Anyway here it is...

Thanks to all those that clicked and commented on yesterday's upload.

In my view exceptional minimalist shot that is both simple and strong. Could try mono conversion but I like the limited pallet. straight to canvass shot.

This is wonderful! What contributes to its wonderfulness is the fact that it stands out from 'normal' clear, sunny landscapes or NABS. I love the atmosphere and colours in this. Stunning! GrinGrinGrin

Yes Mark, you can get the shot in bad weather as you have proved here! I'm so pleased it was damp, nasty and foggy because I can feel how lonely and eerie it was down on the that beach and without it, I think you would have lost the minimalistic feel that I just love about this image. The tones are perfect too...especially in the water. Thank you for being brave enough to upload it and please accept my UA Wink

Cloudy conditions or flat light are the ideal time to use the very long exposures. The fact you have mist/fog in the distance enhances the effect balancing it with the misty effect of the foreground water. The pole on the third provides the anchor for the viewers attention.,
