Don't it Make Your Brown Eyes?

By chase
One of my very first portrait images that I decided to have a play with.I have wanted to have a go at something like this for a while but not had the confidence to do it.After almost a year with epz I have learned so much about manipulation,so I had a try.
I used the Channel Mixer to create the high key effect & then slightly coloured her eyes & lips using layers.
Cropped the image & added a simple border.

I would appreciate any constructive critisism.
Thankyou for looking.
Janet

You've made a very good job of things Janet - theres just about enough edge definition to create an impression of structure. Nice colouring and crop and model :O)

Nice High key image. I know what you mean about having the confidence to change a good shot. I recently tried a similar thing - all I can say is experiment and try different things. John Hawthorne -

I like the high key effect and overall composition... not a 100% sure about the colouring of the eyes but overall it's a winner.

Hi Janet, I think it looks good, though the I do think that the left side of the face should have some hint of a facial line to keep the face contained and match the neck which has that line contour. Hope that made sense. Spot on! Click!!!

Thankyou everyone, your support is most welcome.
Greg..makes total sense, lots to think about whilst doing this..lol I have to keep telling myself I'm never too old to try something new !!
Jane..it's not as difficult as it seems, the channel mixer is a good start, switch to mono & have a play.
Andy..took a look at John's a while ago,one of my inspirations to give it a bash.

I've been looking at this on and off since you posted it and the thing I love about it is the subtle shadows that give just enough hint of a face but don't actually form a face, if you see what I mean.

I took down the follow on image from this as I wasn't too happy with it,I find this one much better, probably as the other one had a sepia tint to it.Thankyou for your comments, sorry but it wasn't sitting right with me.
