Hares' Foot Inkcap

By chase
Coprinus lagopus is the posh name Wink
It's that time of year again !!
A very fragile fungi growing to about 100mm (4in) in height, cylindrical or tightly conical grey and "furry", opening out to a planar or convex with upturned edge, becoming almost transparent whilst shedding spores, the outer edge often tears. Very short lived usually less than 48 hours, does not usually liquefy with age like other Comatus species. Generally found growing in leaf litter or shredded it is here. Some literature gives it as 'poisonous' some as not...I'm not about to try it out Wink

I found a nice little group of these in my garden on some shredded Willow bark left when we had two huge trees felled ( they were causing untold damage),so out came the camera on a rather sunny day,I know, not the best time for photography but hey down and dirty, did a bit of gentle 'gardening' and used my garden as a bg.

I'm guilty of being absent for some, home matters and major loss of mojo have been in my way,I will try and catch up..eventually Smile

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.
Janet xx

Beautifully sharp and nicely separated from the background.

I used to have a mojo but it died ..... I went to it's funeral a year or so ago and still take it flowers from time to time Sad

Hi Janet, long time no see. Nice to see you posting again. I seem to have mislaid my mojo too. Think Mrs Rog must have chucked it out during spring-cleaning.
