Rust & Bakelite

By chase
Another using things from my 'collection'.
This time, the addition of a fabulous bakelite radio which I 'rescued' from my Dad's workshop...again,Mum insisted on cleaning it up...so pleased I managed to hide her duster & Mr Sheen Wink
The radio does work & has a nice 'Philips' logo on the top, I remember listening to it whilst watching my Dad fix loads of stuff in his shed.....hmmmm some time ago now though Wink

Lit by an old X-Ray viewing box from the RHS,filtered with a piece of white paper to stop some of the light.

F11 manual mode
ISO 200
F/L 50mm
tripod
Raw files converted in C1
HDR of 7 frames each 1 stop apart, combined & tonemapped in Photomatix.
Textures added on adjustment layers in Photoshop.

Thanks for taking the time to look.
Janet xx

You're onto a good thing with these Janet. Another beautiful image full of interest and mood. You've maybe gone a little OTT with the distressed background as it's a touch heavy at the top of the frame. A wee bit distracting maybe. I'm relieved to see that the flutterby managed to escape Wink

Beautifully modeled light Jan.

Such a warm palette , not sure it needs the bottle , cos all the other textures and elements just gel so well !

Thanks guys & thankyou for the EC Pete.

Dave,I did have a couple of frames without the bottles but they looked kinda flat,I think it's probably the injection of colour they bring to this image that I like....(the other lot went in the bin ).You are not the only one to say something about not needing them in the frame,I had a PM from a pal that said the same.
Still, there they are...you might not like the next image in the set that I did though...ooops,more green bottles Wink
Thanks for your honesty Smile

Hey Jan , it wasnt a crit ! tis a lovely image , and we are all gonna structure a still life differently.

When you get to see work this good , it would be so nice if we could all discuss words like tonality , balance , structure , orientation , emphasis , scaling , projecton et flippin cetra.

Daves on the right lines , and bottles are good in the right place Wink

What makes this for me anyway is the inclusion of the smaller green bottle tucked away..but I may have made the pocket watch not quite so straight as it makes it look set up rather than..look what I came across while rummaging in the shed.....if you get my drift
