Irises

By chase
What do you do when it's grey, miserable and cold outdoors ?
Solution............Dust off the old X-ray viewing box, get some pretty flowers from the Supermarket ( don't forget your facemask), drop the flowers onto the box, angle the camera downwards and press the shutter Wink.....bingo, a picture Smile oh and don't forget to switch the box on.

I used an led torch to put some light onto the front of the flowers from above, a light sandwich then..lol

Just a teeny drop of colour onto the bg with a texture layer just because I could.

Cheered me up no end doing this, there could be a small series.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Janet xx

So beautifully created but where does one get an old X-ray viewing box. This really is lovely.

Lovely Janet - the loose petals enhance the arrangement. Must see if I can find my light box and try something.

A very lovely presentation, Janet, and a great way of keeping yourself occupied during these boring times, especially when it's grey, dismal and wet like today 😃 Look forward to more! 👍

Very pretty Jan, quite feminine too. With a series of these youd have the basis of a nice range of gift cards.

Thanks everyone.

Willie, wonderful to have your UA, many thanks, so very complimentary.

Sandy, I got the viewing box when the x-ray dept I was working in went digital, no films to put up on the box and they were chucking them out, I got to a couple before they hit the skip Smile

Keith, you gotta keep up with technology, a light sandwich is a new concept but kept secret, until now Wink

You make it sound easy but I know that getting a pleasing composition is harder than it looks.
Beautiful Janet.

Lovely. A different technique for adding light to the upper surface which is the tricky bit with lightbox/pad images in my limited experience, but it works a treat, not to mention the compositional challenges Wink I wonder how it would be with the lightest parts at the top of the image? I don't see any colour in the b/g but then I think my laptop is very bright Smile More please.

I've watched Janet put a composition together, Kate - I think it's a matter of practice, and developing an eye for how things fit together - plus a wild imagination that transcends logic. It's also possible that there's natural talent - but Janet has done so much still life that it's all blended together in a whirligig of

'Let's just try putting this HERE... No, the other side will be better... [stands back and looks] And if I add this round THERE, just peeping out behind THAT...'
