Golden Sunshine

By ChazB
I've just returned from a 5 day trip to Venice, and had a wonderful break with the sun shining every day (makes a change from the North West!). The last time I was there was seven years ago, when I didn't even own a camera, so I was hoping to get a few nice shots to share with you. Here's the first shot in a little 'picture postcard' series, with the typical view looking across to San Giorgio Maggiore past the moored gondolas at St Mark's Square. Thanks for looking!

Superbly broken up composition Charlotte, the boats and posts balance out well and the light on the distant architecture draws and carries your view effortlessly across the water...

Fantastic shot. Spent a week in Venice last November but didnt get out to the Lido.

Some fantastic light over St Marks.

Lovely shot Charlotte! I think a centred vertical crop would have been stronger here though, the peripheral parts being less striking, I think the eye would then be drawn out to sea more...

You have an eye for the light and these are particularly good shots of Venice!

Well done!

Thanks Tim, the suggestion's appreciated Smile I also have a similar shot which I've given a vertical crop (also including a lamp post) waiting to be uploaded at some point, I guess I just wanted them to look a bit different! You'll have to let me know what you think once it's on here Smile

Great shot Charlotte; I like the view through the poles and there's wonderful light on the buildings and colour in the sky.
Not quite so sure about the foreground where the darkness seems quite dominant and I wonder about a crop losing from the pier down, and giving a brighter feel?
