"YELLOW"

By cheekyamyleigh
This is part of a stain glass window in our village church. To me it sums up what yellow is. To me yellow is a happy cheerful colour that represents happiness & precious things like sunshine and gold, which is bright and all bright things make you feel cheery, loved and secure.

OKAY - time for results! Smile

As usual, we have had a real tough time judging this, but we have finally sorted out the winners! Smile

1st: Jamestheboy: Wow! What a piece of art work. The amount of effort put into this gorgeous image really shows - absolutely brilliant! This would look so good printed out and on a wall. Well done James!

2nd: Pirategirl: What an amazing entry - there is no way you could fit any more yellow in that frame! The focus is spot on and the sweetcorn looks so fresh and appetising.

3rd: Pinkalots: Very well caught and processed. We liked the slight blurring, which shows just how fast the train must have been travelling - the colour selection is nicely done, very neat! Not only a good image, but a brilliant write up. It is absolutely brilliant to read how an image has been processed - well done!

Well done to those three! As usual, a HUGE Thank you to Reallusion & EPZ for donating the prizes!

Here's what the judges thought of the rest of the entries:

Bluefire_Photography: The yellow really shines out from this image. We really like the composition and the fact you've managed to capture a lovely reflection too. It looks like there must have been a huge storm to wash all that wood up onto the rocks behind!

Miffmaff: A wonderful composition, using three candles at different sizes a fantastic idea. The lighting is gorgeous, it gives 'yellow' a wonderful warm feeling.

jwt: This is a well thought out and composed image. We really liked the way the whole family and their pet has been included. The post processing has made this image into something special.

Tonyarcher: The yellow flowers have been brilliantly caught, along with the Hover Fly - gorgeous colours and wonderful details. Flowers and bugs in the garden are so difficult to capture, but you've managed brilliantly.

Oisinbranley: The yellow eyes just shine out of the image, a good piece of colour selection. The cat being so dark accentuates the eyes all the more!

Cheekyamyleigh: A beautifully serene image - so well caught. The stained glass window is very beautiful and you've managed to find an area which fulfils the theme brilliantly.

Ciara: A gorgeous manipulation, very well caught. The details on the yellow flower are beautiful and having it against a dark background really makes it stand out.

Smoogie: A wonderful point of view - about as low down as you can get (very brave, so near to wet sand!). The yellow sun on the horizon has given you some lovely light and shadows, well seen and caught!

Rockhopper: So well thought out and caught! Well done for thinking 'outside the box', a wonderfully original image! The background is brilliantly dark and your focus is spot on, well done!

Euan: A beautiful yellow flower, well caught. The center of focus being those lovely curly stamens. The flowers in the background are nicely blurred, but make a wonderful backdrop.

Well done everyone - I can announce that our next Junior Competition will be on the 6th August and the theme will be HOLIDAYS!!

Look out for the "official" announcement next week! Smile
