A mime is a terrible thing to waste

By ChiliMan
Sorry…just had to Grin

Now then…before I go on about this mime, lemme let fly a huge THANK YOOO to Lynne(Joyce) for her shiny User Award on yesterday’s red dragons Smile

And thanks to the lot of yous for all the wonderful comments and votes too Smile

-----

I find myself in an insectoidal mood now, so here’s a flutterby which fluttered by last week. It may be a Common Mime (Chilasa clytia clytia) but it’s not too common a visitor to our garden so I was quite delighted.

As luck would have it (not), I had my old manual lens on and taking flowers at the time…when this fella happened by. Bah. One of those “What the…” moments. I decided to just go for it anyway. Fortunately, he stayed for a few seconds - albeit flappingly - each time he landed for a sippy sip on the lantana. I tried to get the best focus I could and got away with 10-12 shots…out of which these 3 were the only decent ones. Not too bad a percentage considering my sometimes dismal success rate even when using the autofocus lens Smile Glad I didn’t waste the opportunity. I still prefer having the autofocus lens for moving subjects, though.

Tomorrow…another insect. One that wasn’t too flappy.

Till then, then…

They may have been flappy, but you sure got some great photos. V3 is especially nice, they do love that lantana flower.
