A Nice Cold Beer

By ChiliMan
I was at the computer one night last week and having a nice cold beer (Tsingtao). It sat next to me on the sideboard and when I reached for it for a sip, it looked sooo good with the fishtank light illuminating it from behind.

So I held it in front of the tank with my left hand and took the pic with my right.

Now the camera used the flash...which was a good thing 'cos it managed to blacken most of the background and made the beer stand out!

I cropped it, and resized it. Then brought down the light via gamma correction and boosted contrast a bit. Then sharpened it.

Makes me feel thirsty looking at it

I don't even drink, but the photo does lend to temptation!

WOW..... this is so good.... like Shellbeequick it made me want to reach out for a drink...

This maybe a "nice cold beer" BUT the amber liquid really enhances the 'patterns' on the glass and you've done it again you've got me thinking is it a patterned glass OR is the bubbles from the beer or is it both? The beer is made more prominent by the black b/g its a great pic and gives a feeling of 'warmth' - excellent shot again textures/tones/clarity spot on.. your imagination and perception never ceases to amaze me.... WELL DONE Smile

Lol...thanks, Lisa!

And thank you, Karen! Wow...I never thought of the condensation appearing as patterns belonging to the glass! Thanks for all the comments. So glad you like it. As for imagination and perception for this shot, it was SO I picked it up has a nice crisp tongue-twirling sip, thought, "Will you look at pretty..." Since it turned out well, I thought ok, that's one for the gallery!

Wow...thanks everyone for all your wonderful comments!!!!!

Just so you know...if there's anything critical you think about any of my pics, PLEASE TELL ME.

I'm all for alternative viewpoints and they'll help deepen and broaden my mind's eye's vision.

Which would translate into my being able to see more and take better pictures!

By the way, Tom...I have NO idea what suddenly possessed me. I HAVE enjoyed beer visually at different moment from different angles in the past, come to think of it. But this was the first time I'd thought of capturing it.

Might pop a can later on. Dunno. Won't be Tsingtao this time, though. Baron's Strong Brew. It's a richer and thicker yellow, I think. Maybe not as luminant (is that a word? It should be!) as Tsingtao but who knows how it might play with light, eh?

I thought I would just give you my first impression. It looks like an antique artefact embossed and worked in gold, possibly from an archaeological dig, because it shows great age. It could be any object, this is just a close-up of the detail of the artefact.
