At the Airport

By ChiliMan
Thanks for the response to and comments in the vapour trails upload, people. And thanks to Simon(Fletch) for this very cool LINK. The site shows you how many planes are in the sky anywhere in the world! It started off in the UK…loads of planes. Then I went to Singapore. There were two landing Blush

Oh…and thanks to Lynne(Joyce) for unintentionally giving me a kick in the bum and getting me back into the EPZ swing of things. I’ve been a slackster again this week. Lame. Took quite a few sky shots in total, though, so more to come next week Smile

Gosh….how many thanks in this write-up already? Like the Grammies in here…

Now then…here are some shadows from Friday the 13th (*cue ominous music*) and I couldn’t decide whether V1 or V3 should’ve been the lead pic. Whaddya reckon?

[Bet you all are gonna say V4 or something, right? Why you little…]

Beautifully seen and executed. Great abstracts of light and shade. I like them all but V1 and V3 are favourite so agree with your diagnosis. Can't separate them.

Cheers, Paul. Yeah, I couldn't decide 'cos I like the zoooom of V1 but the more contrasty shadows and lines in V3.

I love airports but I hate flying. Because of the long-haul flights I had to take between England and Singapore for the summer break during my uni days. So much waiting for everything to happen. Yeah, Barbs...TEDIOUS is so the word.

Yup agree airports can be fun
I remember a stop over between Australia and London
We were ferreted off theplane with guards with machine guns trained on us.
Admittedly along time ago
Nothing so exciting has happened recently

That's 'cos you learnt to take the batteries out of your clock before stuffing it into your hand luggage. Nothing worse than a ticking clock on a plane Smile Omg...Australia to London, you said?? Ugh...HOW many hours...

I didn't think your daughter was called Gordon Bennett. She's Gordon Bennett Smith, innit Wink

That site really is amazing, isn't it?? The page you land on (no pun intended) shows not just the UK but part of Europe too, ya? SO many planes...

...and it's not just the movement which is cool...but also some planes are bigger than others! I didn't notice that over UK but over Singapore. Maybe to do with altitude?

Wow, you got shadows cornered here, Andrew, amazing how many there are.
All your versions are good, so no favourites from me. Yes, I know, I'm not being very helpful ...!
On the FlightRadar24 website, you can click on a plane and its data is shown - where its come from / going to, height above sea level etc;
If Fefe had typed in the flight number of Gordon Bennet Smith's plane, data for that plane comes up...
Folk around the world have bought 'receivers' and the vast majority of 'planes have 'senders' - and that's how it works.
Try looking at the 'planes over USA...!!

Have a good weekend,
Simon
