Olive-Backed Sunbird

By ChiliMan
Wow…can’t believe the response to yesterday’s upload! Thanks so much, all, and HUGE thanks to Cathy (Holmewood) and Hilary (DolphinLady) for their wonderful User Awards. Awesome GrinGrin

-----

Now then…here’s something taken the day before the dragonfly shot. Also in the garden and with the same cam. Had a fiddle-dee-dee to (a) get it sharper and nicer-looking, and (b) get rid of the background ‘cos it was way too distracting for me.

This is a female Olive-Backed Sunbird, a daily visitor. We have other sunbirds now and then but this one is the regular.

Gonna upload and run and will catch up on your pics tomorrow. Eyelids going on strike.

**By the way, the red spiky thing in yesterday’s shot is the unopened bracts of a heliconia inflorescence. To be precise, a Heliconia latispatha.

How perfectly beautiful, against black, in its neat frame - it seems surprised to find itself a work of art.

Good work eliminating the background, though I am not usually in favour of this, it works extremely well here. Lovely bird, lovely image.
