Portrait of a Heliconia - 2

By ChiliMan
Many thanks for the wonderful welcome backings, people Smile

I'm halfway through my visiting of pfs but I thought I'll upload this in between.

Another heliconic offering from the garden.

This one's a rostrata and these bloom like nobody's business. There are always at least 3 hanging around. Actually, I really should cut down the ones which've long since flowered and dried 'cos there are way too many shrivelled up 'carcasses' around. Which, I've noticed, would make great shots in mono against the right background.

I've always liked these at THIS stage or even earlier. When the inflorescence is still at the 'spear' stage and the bracts still haven't started to sequentially open up.

Here you've got 2 bracts open, although I suppose the basal bract doesn't count. AAAAAANYWAY, seems like I've started talking to myself here...SO...I shall go and catch up with more pfs!

Hope you like. Check out the little ant running along the top!

A Smile
