Strange Bug

By ChiliMan
That's two-fold.

First, the bug in my system. Fine-ish most of Wednesday then a slight fever in the evening. Fine-ish again yesterday but bad sore throat at night. Strange bug. Apart from that, this bug hasn't turned out to be a major thing. Went to do some household shopping today, so that's fine. Although an annoying offshoot was my psoriasis being triggered (which can happen when there's fever/viral infection). The least fun part of that was a few tiny skin splits on my fingers, but they've settled now with steroid cream. So allís well Smile

Alrighty, whinge over. You know the whinge had to be done, people. It's in Section 2 Paragraph D of the Man-Flu handbook Grin

The other strange bug is this little fellow right here. I'd gone out to the driveway yesterday evening to try for butterfly shots. Mehhh...just one fella flapping all over the place...so that was a fail. So I decided to take some pics of the clematis in the driveway since I was in a picture-taking mood...when I saw this guy. Never seen this one before. I really like the colour and subtle patterning. Little fella too Ė 1cm long, max. Luckily I already had my extension tube on, so no problem getting close Smile

Isn't he gorgeous, Andrew, wonderful colour and markings. We have something vaguely here, but I've forgotten its name, will come back to you if I remember itSmile Carol
Just remembered.............cicindela campestris. Don't think it's one of these, but may be in the same family.

Wow...thanks, Carol...but no, different bug. Different family too, methinks, 'cos the structure is not the same. Hmm...must go look for this website I once found about Singapore beetles. But yeah, beautiful bug, huh? Smile

Did it have an orange body under that iridescent Green carapace? If so it is one of the Jewel Shield Bugs. Definitely a shield bug though, just name it Thabbooae Andrewicus. Whatever, a lovely bug and well photographed.
