The Haloed Tree

By ChiliMan
Ah-HAH. I was just thinking how interesting it is to read about people’s preferences regarding the polarising effect…when I remembered that I had already done an upload in November last year! I have the memory of a pigeon BlushSad Now in that upload , both shots had the polariser on but at different twiddles of the ring. In general, it seems there’s a preference for the more natural look.

I like both looks for different reasons. When there's maximum effect, I like the contrast in the sky and the detail on the land. But then I like the breezier blues in the more natural look when I untwiddle.

Today’s sky was taken last Tuesday, the day I call Sky Day. Lovely skies and I had no polariser with me but I liked how some of the shots turned out anyway (like the recent Vapour Trails one). I think the light was sorta rich and lent a natural contrast to things anyway.

Okay, so this one had no polariser used, obviously, but I did apply the cam’s ‘Dramatic Tone’ filter to the image. Which has given the tree an interesting little halo, I see. Henceforth, it shall be known as the Haloed Tree. Or not.

The road in front leads up to the adjacent housing estate. Both our estates are undergoing drainage works…hence all the stuff. I wanted to include the stuff to give the scene a sort of completeness. Also, the sky further up was a bit naff Grin

Now that you've beatified the tree, get ready for the pilgrims Andrew. Sure you can find some holy water, in the clouds maybe.

Set up a stall selling religious memorabilia like they do in all sites of religious significance maybe? You could make a fortune.

If this were mine I would spend ages tweaking those verticals but hey, this is your shot, not mine, and both the street and the sky are lovely.

The sky and clouds are very much dominant features of this image so a suitable case for polarisation I'd say. Smile

I was so busy admiring the sky and the haloed tree I didn't even notice the roadworks. A lovely shot Andrew. Cathy
