Used-to Bee

By ChiliMan
Oh man…totally cracked me up when I read something in the comments in my last upload.

Cathy (Holmewood) had made a typo. No biggie…it’s an easy one to make. But Ed’s comment slightly further down is what cracked me up. Nice one, Ed…made my day GrinGrinGrin

Now then, people, I found this poor bee. Dead. Stuck in a flower. All quite mysterious. Had lunch with my brother and his family and mentioned it to my nephews. David, the older one, suggested a spider. BINGO. ‘Cos the previous day, I’d photographed a tiny crab spider at the same bunch of flowers! I looked at the bee pic closely when I got home…and you can just about see two legs holding on to the bee. And some of the spider is faintly visible behind the flower in V1.

Vs 3 and 4 are pics of the spider taken the previous day. Check out the camouflage in V3! Lousy image in V4 but I had to include it.

Quite a big breakfast for the spider. With arms outstetched he’s only 1cm across. Greedy little piggy Grin

I’ve been meaning to upload since Monday but I kept getting in my way Sad

Big fleas have little fleas
Upon their backs to bite 'em.
And little fleas have lesser fleas
And so, ad infinitum...

This immediately makes me think of a story by Ringo Starr that starts off 'There were no flies on Frank that morning'. So this is obviously not Frank! Having said that, whoever this is, he's past worrying about the flies. I don't like spiders at the best of times and although this might be the best of times for the spider, it doesn't make me like it any more! So all in all, great shots and many sides to the story....!

We have those blasted crab spiders in Spain. The little buggers feast on bees there too.

Aha, I know what I'm looking at now. Perfect title. Didn't take long for the flies to cotton on.

We have these gruesome spiders here too - and they change colour according to what type of flower they're lurking in. A good spot Andrew and a mystery solved although it seems everyone is trying to get in on the act.
Nature captured at its most gruesome..

A super set of images it's the first time I've seen flys getting a lift from a bee well captured.
Regards John.
