Viv 1 - Blue Ice Racing

By ChiliMan
Hello!

Right-O, this is the first in a series of 7.

I took my mum to her friend Vivien's place on Sunday and while there, I found lots of things to photograph. As such, I decided to precede each title with 'Viv' to indicate it's part of the same series.

-----

Vivien's car had some nice fat drops on it. I looked down and saw some on a clean wheel...and the slate driveway (not wise, it's cracked all over the place) provided a nice background. So I took the pic.

At home, I cropped the pic. Then blued the wheel. Saved the pic. I then lowered the brightness through gamma correction (brought it down from 1 to 0.72).

Resized it. Boosted contrast by 15% and sharpened it. Then worked on the frame.

Hope you all like it!

A.

So nice of you to say so. Thanks, Hilary!! I really am quite happy with this pic. Heehee. The next one is of the car's fin. But I gotta wait a few more hours before I can upload it. Bah.

And as you've already guessed, I LOVE your pics Smile

I like it too. I origanally thought the overexposed slates on the left was not doing it any favours but I feel, on looking for longer. that this adds to the abstract feel.

Thanks, Dave.

And you're right. I didn't notice that it's a wee bit glary there. That was the part facing out.

From the thumbnail I thought it was one of those remote control UFO's and you theme was 'aliens' lol... more than surprised when it was a car tyre .... great effects the blue really does get your attention but the texture/tones of the slate driveway add the 'edge'... well done

This really is excellent! I love the viewpoint, the contrasting textures, the tight cropping, the colour treatment, the way the picture is divided up into 3 sections, perfectly balanced. I could probably rattle on for ages. Love it! regards Robin

Thanks for all your comments and compliments!

Karen, so funny you mentioned that 'cos I'd been tempted to slice out the wheel and use it as a UFO insert in some shot!! lol

Joseph, yep, I really like the angle too. I didn't wanna go into the wheel where the disc was, see?

And Robin, you've given me a new perspective 'cos I didn't notice the 3 sections thing!

Cheers, all of you.
