Well, from the English Professors point of view, this is one of the best places to "kill some time." the slick / shiny contrasts work so well here!

Hi Anne. It is a great picture with a not so great title.

'Cafe Scene' or 'Break' would do it for me.

'Killing time' is a megalomaniac metaphor, can you kill time? or time can see us all killed? Is time a healer? Or a saviour?

Is the photograph our revenge on replicating it? Our 'colpo grosso'?

I tried to see how your picture would look if only the man on the right was visible. To cut off Susan Sharanton and the folks on the left and I was let with Reat Books Performed from Hollywood's best. And a partial chair. I could still figure out what the ad said. Then cutting off vertically the wording of the ad, I was left with 3 smiling faces and 3 chairs available around Mr 'Don't Bother me, I'm reading - & keeping notes too'. Then they all pack and go, staff arranges chairs neatly and leave. Silence and audio books Will that be your next picture?

Best regards,
pablophotographer

The possibilities of the scene would probably not have clicked in my brain, but you saw it and created a very effective image. For me there is an interesting tension between the photos on the wall and the reality below.

Superb quality image Anne. Sharpness, tones, and you couldn't have staged the shot better if you'd paid them!

Super sharp Anne with the actors leaping out from the wall. I thought the guy with the watch looked a little like Boris Becker!

"Killing time" just means busying oneself with anything so as to make the time pass quicker.
