Bird of Paradise

By Chinga
It's said that the red Bird of Paradise plant originates from Hawaii. But I have seen it in Tailand and in the Seychelles as well. It grows well in tropical humid weather.
But the portuguese Bird of Paradise (Strelizia Reginae or "Estrelicias") in Madeira - the flowers are mainly yellow but just as exquisite and exotic.
This is an unopened sample I got as a gift the the other day, so I took some shots in the garden as the sun came in the morning. Some are reversed just to show a different prespective. Hope you like it.
Shots taken in my garden - London.

A variety of strelitzia I am not familiar with, Isobel, we see strelitzia reginae growing in profusion here. Very striking red and green markings, a well captured set. Carol

The little droplets enhance these interesting series nicely, you positioned the open 'beaks' very well!
N0 1 and 3 for me for the excellent contrast between red and green!
