Exotic pod...

By Chinga
Yes, still on the green subject...
Strange pods spotted in a little garden in Sri Lanka... Are they a fruit? The outer skin is quite hard.
Does anyone know what it is? Interesting shape and it was a lovely tree...
PS - I am feeling rather "P......green off"...when I hear that London is going up on transport in the next three weeks... Here we go again...

I have just spent half an hour trying to identify this exotic looking seed pod, but cannot find anything similar, sorry Sad. A great capture, though, Isabel, I do hope someone can tell you what it is. Carol

Right Isabel, I think it is the horse Radish tree MORINGACEAE OLEIFERA can grow up to ten meters high, in Shri Lanka the seeds and parts of the tree are used including the roots for medicinal uses, you may be able to find out more on Google, regards Leon. GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Lovely light and a wonderful shape to the 'fruit' and of course a gorgeous green that you have captured here Isabel - I had a look at the plant Leon says it might be, but it isn't that one ... Carol Grin
