Antwerpen Centraal

By WhiteRose1
Morning folks, back safe and sound from the Low Countries. Managed a few flower shots at the Floriade but my favourite place was the train station at Antwerp. Very grand and reminiscent of New York's Grand Central with a sweeping staircase and balustrades. The platforms are unusual in that they are on 3 levels on top of each other (plus another level for the ticket office). Fortunately we were staying very close to it and I was able to return at varying times.

v1 - looking down to the bottom track level from the atrium.

v2 - standing on the next level down, later that night

v3 - virtually the same pov but further away from the edge.

All taken at Iso2000, handheld without flash. v3 is a bit soft on focus but I liked the set up so left it in.

..... And we had good weather there!!!!

Looking forward to catching up,

Dave

Can't decide between v1 and v2, so am on the fence, which probably isn't a safe place on the third storey, so I will opt for ground floor Wink
Glad you had a good holiday Smile

Where are all the flowers? Was the market cancelled?! WinkTongue
V1 is very effective for it's symmetry and strong lead in lines and makes a great architectural image.
V3 is engaging due to it's human interest and wondering what they are looking at, might have worked even better from a higher viewpoint (probably not practical) to try to establish the relationship with what they are observing.
Welcome back! Grin

Love them all Dave, for hand held they are superb, if I had tried this there would have been so much camera shake everyone would think they were abstracts, been here a few times, my favorite place is the Cathedral, and also the river at twilight, excellent set my friend.

I wouldn't say architectural gem, sorry. The shot is wonderful and I'm not questioning that, but we all see different things.....To me, it look akin to an old Victorian prison, with cells placed either side, especially in V2.....Just hope I'm not the only one that see's it that way! Perhaps it's just bad memories Wink Good images all the same though Grin
