Taken at Boscombe Pier at Bournemouth East Beach. It is entirely possible that that the next few images will be the last ones from my EFS 10 - 22 as the camera was blown over on the tripod during a long exposure and I think I have sand in the focus ring. Its ok on auto focus but grinds like buggery on manual.... If anyone knows of a good service centre please drop me a line, I suspect its going to be expensive

Anyway I hope you like the image, I know its not perfect but with the sun almost at the end of the pier and time available was just during my lunch hour, I think I did the best I could.

Thanks to everyone that clicked or commented on yesterdays upload, it was a challenging image and partivular thanks to Dave (Whiterose1) for the time he took to upload a mod.

If I get my lens working again I'll go back and try to move the groyne or the beach huts and take some more!!!

V2 is a mono conversion.

This is an excellent photo Mark ! The mono is excellent but somehow the colour works better for me - no hard colours makes this soft on the eyes Smile

It's mono for me Mark but my real concern is your sick camera. Here's hoping somebody recommends a good service shop that won't gouge you.
Keep us posted.

Both excelent Mark, not sure which I prefer. Being colour blind I often lean toward b&w but on this occasion I think the colour one just pips it....Oh I don't know, just had another look and..... call it a draw. 2 fantastic versions of a great image.

I think the sun has helped you quite nicely, Mark. Excellent symmetry off-set by the contrasting light and shade, and the shadows give the diagonal dynamic. The sun gives the extra dimension. Colour for me as well.

You've done this very well Mark considering the difficult light. V1 for me. I hope your lens can be fixed. Have you rung Park Cameras in Burgess Hill? They may be able to advise - I do hope so.

This is one of your best Mark, a really strong composition. The mono is very good but the colour version just wins the vote.

Excellent composition and effective use of light and shade.
I think the whites in the shimmering sea look blown in the mono
although it does highlight the shadows so well.
So I'm going with the colour version today.
So sorry to hear about your camera.
Do hope it won't take too long to repair but it will hurt the wallet.

Colour for me today, just because it's nice to see some colour instead of grey - weatherwise that is. Smile

I see this as an excellent light study, use of available light and a wonderful symmetrical composition-- Kudos!

Great symmetrical simple (simple = skilled and effective!) comp which is very effective at conveying depth due to the planks leading in and the receeding symmetry of the lamps and the aisle. I think colour works better because the mono is a bit blown-out in the highlights, maybe if the overall curve was darkened? You'd get more texture from the wood that way.
