Male Kingfisher

By Lillian
Was way too far away...but at least I got it!
I know it is soft...but a reference shot I like
just think if I had of used a tripodWink

again hand held and very high ISO as was trying to get in flight
V2 is..but just a grab shot so ...sorry
Taken at Wetlands Arundel yesterday

Thanks for all the comments on the in flight goose...appreciated

last one for the year..my favourite bird

Happy New Year...and all you wish for yourselves

Lillian

I went down to Slimbridge yesterday with Ed ( Glostopcat ) and he said you were going to the wetlands, I was hoping you were going to Slimbridge too so I could have met you, Two good images Lillian, you can not always get close so have to crop in but at least you get the images that would otherwise be missed.

I think you did amazingly well to capture the Kingfisher in flight so well, Lillian - you must have the reflexes of a coiled spring..!
V1 is a lovely shot too, with a nice amount of distance around the bird. Superb colours..!

Two grand shots Lillian, v2 is a wonderful opportunistic capture and is something most of us would have missed as they are lightning quick when in flight. Most of the time you only see a flash of bright blue and then they are gone! I did tell Gary that it was Arundel WWT you were visiting, it must have slipped his mind in his excitement!Grin All the best to you in 2014 and I look forward to lots more of your images of birds and beasts both captive and wild.
two stunning captures here Lillian, well done indeed, happy new year.ray

V1: Great natural kingfisher photograph,Super perch and background.
V2 Very good attempt of a In-flight kingfisher shot, Very few photographers would even try a capture this difficult task.
Wetlands Arundel is quite a difficult place to photograph kingfishers, because you are in control of the environment.
