See how I was born!

By netta1234
The Cow was due to Calf about 9 days ago,and wee were keeping an eye on her, Decided to bring her in to the cow shed last night as she was just laying down all day in a verry difficult spot in the field.Decided to call the Vet and he came(a verry young lad)and a student Vet was with him ,a young girl that will be a good vet one day as she liked the job and was verry good at it.
They decided between them that it would be better to deliver the calf, and to help the cow they pulled it out in the end
with a special machine.
I will try and upload some more for you to see what happened.

V1---Outside the cow shed after birth, in about 3 minutes ,sitting up.Smile
v2---The Vet investigating inside
v3----The student's having a look
v4----The student said it was alive and she managed to have the two front legs to the back
v5----She is tying the ropes to the feet
v6----Then tying the other end of the ropes to the machine
v7---Young Student vet working really hard
V8----Yes!!!It's been bornSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

A male Calf, the Mother is a Belgian Blue X Ayrshire, and the Bull was Salers(Breed from France)
Then we took them both out to the field, and he was walking with his Mum when I looked out just now.

Wow, now that's a baby portrait all right. Super shot. You could do a series of shots throughout the cows life.

Perhaps one of the most original sets of images I have seen here on site, and such a delightful outcome for both mother and calf, Netta.
Very well captured documentary images.

That's different, Netta!
My friend (Jerseys) had me take a camcorder film of similar events.
Ended up tugging on a rope.

Smashing images of a spectacular event.

Brought tears to my eyes Netta.
A wonderful set of images, even more so for those who have never seen
a calf being born. So glad he was safely delivered.
Takes me back to being a girl and sometimes not allowed to witness
goings on! Strange how we can remember these moments.
Bring back 'All creatures great and small'.

Netta, what a lovely natural story of life on the farm
I documented a giraffe being born (in P/F) and was so exciting with
just the honour of being there.

You really have done so well here

How wonderful how you've documented this, Netta!! And thank you so much for sharing this with us. Aww...look at the poor thing in V1 all dazed and bewildered Grin

The first time I saw this was on TV a long time ago...James Herriot...the TV series..."All Creatures Great and Small", I think.

I've just thought of something, though...isn't it amazing how the cow allows the vet to reach in?? I really like that. So trusting.

Andrew
