Norfolk Broads Meet

By Chris_H
Turf Fen Mill shot at midnight on the Norfolk Broads during the recent Norfolk Broads Cruiser Meet.

After everyone had returned to the boat I left my camera out for some more shots, I think everyone thought I was a bit mad leaving my camera and all my equipment out on its own for a good hour or so but when I returned luckily it was still there and I got some nice results.

It was really nice to meet everyone and I had a great weekend.

This has winner written all over it. A night shot to die for Chris, what we do for our art hey, leaving it out with the foxes was kinda funny. Great photo and well done.

Well done.

Wonderful Smile
One day I will get around to a night image like this, but doubt it would come close quality wise, one for me to aspire to

Yep, its why I pay hundreds of pounds each year for insurance.

I know the area well, its in the middle of a nature reserve where no people would be at midnight unless they were on a boat, all I really had to worry about was a deer or similar knocking it over.

It was well worth the wait for the longer exposure Chris. Great results in this image. I'm definitely going to indulge in a bit more night photofraphy in the future. It is very addictive.

Well done Chris that long exposure has worked a treat.

That is quite spectacular. I wonder how long you've thought about this shot, before all the elements came together? What I like so much about this is the reveral of the elements: the stars move as the sails stand still.
Does your insurance cover you to leave your camera unattended at the water's edge?
How much of a problem was noise, what ISO did you use? I have an inkling it may make a fine B&W conversion.

Hi Mel,
I have had this image in mind for a few years now, I have done similar images at Horsey Mill & Thurne Mill but Turf Fen is a long walk in the dark and everytime I have travelled all the way there its ended up clouding over.

Noise was not that much of a problem although there was some present. This was shot with iso 100 and I have now realised this was not the really long exposure shot where I left the camera unattended, that shot I will upload when I am back home which wont now be until 10th Jan.

Seen one similar that got an EC I think.
This is equally as good. Can't understand why so few clicks.

Nice one and well worth the effort. I'll have to give this a try, if I'm allowed out that late.

Hi Chris

Only just noticed this one! Great shot mate, and well under rated! It was good to meet you all on the meet, and I hope things go well for you in the coming year. Happy new year to you both.
