    Simple composition intended or not, it works very well indeed. Lovely leadline from the water runnels in the sand. The only thing I'd consider changing would be to crop a touch off the left to lose the truncated headland/island.

    Nice one. The ropes aren't "too" conspicuous IMO, in different light they can be a real pain.

    It's Blencathra in the background, BTW, Skiddaw is off to the left.

    You'd have got away with the shallow DOF better if you'd gone for the eye rather then the nearest point. Not always easy I know, but certainly worth trying to do.
    Otherwise, not too bad. Maybe the shortage of comments is because it just looks odd in thumbnail size and doesn't draw the mouse?
