Peregrine Falcon

By Chrism8
Peregrine falcon ( Falco peregrinus )

Worth a quick look Large Loads of extra detail,

Peregrines are the fastest animals in the world. They are believed to achieve speeds approaching 200km/h (124mph) when plunging from the sky after prey. One has been logged by radar at 183km/h (114mph) after a dive of 305m (1,000ft).

Great shot...but ...gotta sure that's a peregrine? Is it an immature? Asking because adults are dark & usually have a very dark "helmet". This looks like a lanner...asking 'cause I'm curious.

Thank you for your comments, this is an immature peregrine, around 2yrs old and should malt his greyer feathers later this year.
