Dinosaur Paw

By chrisrudland
I know its not a paw print but it looked like one on the thumbnail.

I am told these bowl shape erosions are created in rocks when glaciers moved over the land weighing trillions of tons millions of years ago.

Smaller stones would get caught up underneath them in the melting water and ice, spinning round and round rapidly, trapped they would create these bowl shaped erosions.

I bet some one will say that's not true...

Chris

Must say I actually find it quite boring, to be constructive I'd like a closer focus on the pool of water with some reflection in it, I think that's the real interest in the shot. Well executed but not an EC for me, sorry

your geography is correct, they have huge ones in switzerland too. The one i saw had the corrading rock still caught within the hole in the substrate rock. They have a german name but I can't remember it.

Well done on the EC and POTW. Well deserved.

However, I doubt if it was Glaziers as these things were covered in Glaciers in those days!! Wink)

Thats the point, if the landscape wasn't covered the sub glacial streams couldn't act as an agent for the formation of the morphology with the german name that I still can't remember.
