Quote:Quote:My name comes from something proberly boring, lol, its the name of one of my cats.BooBooStrange, I have an 11 year lady tabby cat also named Boo Boo, who has appeared many times in my folio over the years.

The Vet's assistant originally told us Boo was a boy, and my wife therefor called her 'Beautiful Boy', shortened to Boo Boo.

However, this subsequently proved wrong, but by then Boo had accepted her name.

    My user name?

Many, many years ago when I went camping with my wife and and her group it was the name that the kids called me - Jas.

funny story, ,When I was a boss at work one of my employees dropped a large plow blade on his hand, we brought him to the hospital, and the only emergency room available was for kids, and it had all kinds of kids animals on the walls, when the Doctor came in to examine him,he said do you have a BOO BOO< and after that ,thats what he got stuck with, and that was ten years ago, and hes still called BOO BOO at work, Chuck

Quote:Obvious reasons. I sometimes go under the pseudonym Larkfield which my pictures are all tagged. It is the name of a town in Kent and I saw it on the side of a van once and it stuck in my head.

Quote:Well the Ski bit is obvious enough - I love to ski.

Sometimes I look back at old holiday snaps and cringe at the suits we wore; dayglo orange, shocking pink and lime green (all on one suit!), loud enough to start an avalanche all by themselves and anything but... chic.

    So there y'have it. Skichic.

    So lets see them, Chuck

Quote:Quote:Conrad can explain mine. It's easy, just not if you have to explain it :o)Oh no, somehow I knew you would say this sooner or later. It isn't that easy. But here's an attempt:

It's a cute way of saying you're Belgian - "belg" means "Belgian", and adding "ikskenikske" is basically the same as calling a "thing" a "thingummy".

Also, we both have (almost) the same first name. My name is Coen (short for Coenraad) in Dutch, and Coenraad is the Dutch version of Conrad (hence my own user name - it's what I call myself in all international contacts). Belgikskenikske's first name is Koen, which is the Belgian version of the short version of my first name.

    C.

C O E N spelled backwards is NEOC, theres a PUB down the street from me with that name , thats how the bar was named, Chuck

  • Commented on 'Which EPZ photographer has the most distinctive style?'

Quote:Sometime ago I suggested an anonymous gallery (to remove the sinister threat of click clicks) but one of the reasons suggested why this wouldn't work was the fact that many photographers had such a distinctive style that their images would be recognised immediately.

This got me thinking because I recon developing a personal style is important.

So the question is simple - who on EPZ has the most recognisable images and style/treatment?

I think we should discount images that have a name, copyright, logo or branding attached (for obvious reasons) -but nominations for members (non members) with the most distinctive and recognisable images.

I need to have a think about this because there are quite a few excellent candidates - so maybe somebody else wants to start the ball rolling?

    Best wishes

    Robert

The one that stands out to me is Jolli, hes got 300,000 lakes to work with, My photos are all over the place and I just have fun doing them, Love working in PSP< and all the effects that I can come up with, Chuck

Quote:I wonder if anyone can help me. I recently made a slideshow as a present for a colleague who is leaving and a lot of other people have asked if they can have copies. I bought a music track to accompany the pictures but not a license for distribution. Does anyone know how to go about buying a license so that I can replicate the DVD? I don't intend to sell them but I need to charge something to cover my costs as I have had dozens of requests... All advice appreciated..
    Cheers, Linda

Regarding music on slide shows, I belong to the Local Access Cable company group in my town, When we make a movie and add music, we have a contract with a company in California, to use it, we get a 99 year lease program, they have all kinds of music,ie, jazz, country rock, you name it they have it, we pay them a fee, and they come on cd:s, when we play our movies that we make we always give them credit for the tunes, hope that helps, if you would like drop me a line and i"ll up load there e-mail address, Chuckspics,

  • Commented on 'Damage to Canon 24-105 F4L?'

Quote:Disaster... I've just placed my 30D with Canon 24-105 F4L down on a stool forgetting that I had the screw-in fitting from my tripod still connected to the battery grip. The thing toppled over, fell about a foot, and came down square on the end of the lens.

The most obvious damage was that the Hoya filter was smashed. I've carefully cleared the glass away (using a puffer), but:

    (a) The screw-in ring of the filter appears reluctant to come away (I prefer not to force it), and
    (b) There appears to be a small spot of white on the outer edge of the outer glass of the lens which won't blow or wipe off. I fear/suspect it's damage to the glass.

Other than the above, the camera and lens appear to be working OK.

Any recommendations? I guess that I'm probably best taking the lens to a dealer for checking/repair. Calumet and Jacobs in central London are convenient for me.

I've had the lens for less than a month. A hard lesson learned...

I have the same lens ,purchased in the United States ,,and a suggestion was to go directly to Canon and plead ignorance, good luck, Chuckspics
