But I am intrigued by the fact that the highlights in the two eyes are different - the ringflash reflections show different segments in the left and right eyes. I therefore suspect that they are artificially added - or, at least, have been PS'd a bit!
The immediate impact is very high indeed, but I feel that it reduces rapidly, which probably wasn't the intention. As Alda says, the softening is considerable, and looks quite artificial (as, I think, it is)...

I am confused as to why her eyes and hair is so sharp then? The lips aren't soft either, but the eyelashes are. Surely you can understand why we think it looks PSd?


Maybe the eyebrows are partly makeup, so not actually sharp?
f/5.6 and 70mm won't leave a lot of depth of field, so only things in the plane of focus will be sharp: and maybe a flawless complexion and outstanding makeup...

But it truly does look as if it has had a lot of PS attention! And so many people do a great deal of it, so that when it all comes together right through talent i nthe studio, we tend not to believe it. Devaluation, without a Euro in sight...

Don't get me wrong. I do go overboard in ps from time to time but a lot of the effect in this shot is through the use of the Fluor tube - it has an amazing light quality that is wonderfully soft - apart from the odd blemish here and there I've not done as much work as I would usually do - I just gotta save up for proper kino flows
