Mixed feelings. The face is wonderful, gentle and sad. He seems to be moving out of the frame and into the past. But I find that hand really distracting - dark, blurred and exaggerated in size. It's one of the risks of wide angle portraiture... If it was in the same plane as the shoulder this would work much better for me, be more balanced.
I hope you won't be offended by that. The face really is so good, it seems a pity to draw attention away from it.

Thnaks Dave and Moira, I am Glad to get your Award Dave, Very Much Appreciated...Moira, in wide angle portraiture, body parts are often used as lead in, the distraction of the hand will get the attention as intended to use it as a lead in to the face, here in the comment section i can't find any option to upload another image where i had placed the hand in the focal plane with the face, but i make my choice with this one as that image with the focus in the hand as well is lacking 3d effect...

You could upload it as a variant Somnath.

The beauty of this is in his lovely face, the rest I am not convinced about.
There is a very dark line over the top of his right shoulder, extending to his neck which looks odd, maybe part of your post processing ?
I can see why the hand is there but the size compared to the rest of the image is too much, for me.
Maybe if you had asked him to take a step forward, the distortion would have been a little less.

I do love your work Somnath and your subject always tell a story which is what this type of photography is all about.
Still gets a vote from me, simply because I love your subject and the light you have captured is lovely.

He has a wonderful, wistful look in his eyes, remembering something from the past...and you ahve the light perfectly placed on him.
I do agree with Moira and Janet regarding the hand.

Well, I have found an image here in this site , and it is just for discussion, apart from the fact that the image linked above has extraordinary lighting, pose and pov, did you notice another point how her hand is used to create depth in that wide angle portraiture...

I remember that POTW, I didn't like the distortion but it worked better I think because of the depth of field. The hand is in reasonable focus, well lit, and it has interest in its own right.
Your version is an interesting comparison. The hand is much better; but the face is less involving, and there are reflections on the glass which create a barrier.
As I said above, wide angle portraiture has pitfalls - as well as intriguing possibilities.

I just find there is so much I love about this that the hand doesn't bother me. I find his face first and the pores on his skin so fascinating. I can feel for him and I'd love to chat with him. He just looks to be so interesting. I'm more into how a picture makes me feel than the perfection of it I guess.

it would be best to have the lead as it is with only arm and hand transplanted from v.1

Thanks Leo, ok i have different expression and better image with the hand as placed in v1, because here in v1, the subject movement is visible GrinGrinGrin...as i have said a quick upload as v1, so it is not the best one, i shall upload it on another day if possible, i have taken a lot of images of that person and of others in that place as generally i do, during the whole conversation with the person and with others...

But still my choice is the lead one...

Love the contrast between the lead image and the version Somnath. everything we
think we know about him from the lead is turned upside down by V1. Every picture tells a story,
but not always the full story.
