The sort of image that instantly makes me wonder who, where, when, and why. Powerful in an aggressive sort of way.

Dave.

He's wonderful, but there are elements that don't work for me. The colour is very thin and cold, you have partially desaturated on red and yellow I think and it's pushed too far. And I really want to get rid of the bit of background and light strip on the left - crop as far as the blue wood.
It's a pity modifications aren't allowed, I'd love to try b&w! It would have fewer distractions for me.

Thanks Dave, Phil and Moira, and Thanks also to Phil, Brian and Andy for your Coveted Awards, All are Greatly Appreciated...

Moira, yes you are right, but only yellow as the background contained an yellow bag and as it is directly opposite of blue, it would have been a distraction, a monochrome version is in my mind too, so it will be another story on another day, I always prefer this format and for compositional fulfillment i haven't cropped it...

strong and slightly disconcerting..
i wouldn't be surprised to know he was hiding a cut-throat razor in the folds of his garment...

I agree with Moira. I had looked at this earlier and anticipated some comments on the colour also. Thats a lot to do with denaturation, and that blue colour is no longer really blue to me, - close to a green/teal.

You could quite easily have desaturated the offending bag alone rather than the entire image. Blue and yellow are only opposites in photography colour theory, in fact they complement each other really. Consider the striking Swedish flag as an example.

Thanks Leo and Willie...Willie you can see the original elsewhere, as I can't name it legally, if you click on the small link at the end of my name, the colour is same as I saw, only selectively yellow is desaturated as that bag was in yellow, you can see the originalWinkWinkWink...

Severe! And a lovely echo between the man and the bag hanging on the wall on the right.

My only complaint would be the left edge that I would have cropped. It clashes with the blue. But I love how you've captured the face. Still one superb image for me.
