Grey Heron in flight.
exif data 1/1000 @ f6.7, lens at 80mm.
Have been trying to get one of these for weeks , this is a excellent shot.. TED
Even getting close to a Heron is tricky, great capture!
How did you get close enough to use 80mm?
Very nice Clive, well detailed capture.
well caught - a beauty. Never realised they had pointy claws!
This is a wonderful image.....could be my passport photo ;o)
Theres something very special capturing a bird in flight. Youve done it very effectively.
Great in flight capture and nicley framed, I do find the rear bird distracting though, have you thought of cloning it out, could possibly make the image stronger.
Beautiful capture, well done.

In answer to the questions,
Chris & Jim the Herons were allowing me to get to about 20' in front of them. A few times dogs in the park would along the path and scare them. This was when I captured this picture as a bird flew within feet of me and began to change direction.
Steve, I did think about cloning out the other bird. However I liked it and thought it added a sense of ddepth to the image which I liked so I left it in.
Thanks again Clive
Great work Clive, a nicely detailed and well timed capture.
Superb flight shot.
