Swifty being Swift

By Coast
Second of a few images from my day at the TDF final in Paris. This is Ben Swift of Team Sky. A young British Rider from Yorkshire who had a great first Tour and shows oodles of potential for the future.

I have added additional blur in PS just to take the background down and soften out the spectators. Otherwise a straight shot. I was fortunate to get a front row position on the barriers on the corner of the Tuilleries however it gets very tight and panning was a challenge in itself! Quite a number of shots had blurred hands of those either side of me as they waved and cheered. This was one where I managed to catch the action without obstruction.

As always I love to hear your comments - like or not and any constructive points. Thanks for looking.

I like the shot and can understand how hard it is to pan in a crowd, but I think the ps work has spoilt it. If it was my picture I think I may down a more dramatic blur, a zoom blur or even graduated the blur to the rear but make the rear very blurry.

A cracker. Not too keen on the black in front of the front wheel but still a good action shot portraying speed and the cyclist is recognisable.Good photojournalism.
