A grandiose silhouette of the Old City

By ColleenA
Good morning....
Thank you for your continued support, apologies for not getting to vote yesterday....just so busy seeing Istanbul....what a wonderful city....
Thank you to Maureen (HarrietH) for her UA...much appreciated
There is just so much to see in Istanbul....so where to start...decided to start with a ferry ride on the Bosphorus. In the 18th and 19th centuries the Bosphorus was alive with caiques long thin rowboats), their oars dipping rhythmically into the currents as they carried the sultan and his courtiers from palace to pavilion and from Europe to Asia.
It is spanned by three mammoth bridges and is alive with ferries, cargo vessels, cruise ships and sleek speedboats.
there are many restaurants along the shore as well as beautiful homes and palaces and mosques
A selection of images of what the ferry ride has to offer ... not the sharpest images...but the top deck was overcrowded and it rained for the first 30 minutes so we got soaked. But it cleared and we had a bit of a sunset.
Have a nice day

So you arrived Istanbul, Colleen. A wonderful set, I like all your shots of those familiar spots, but the grandiose silhouette is as magnificent as the old city, and it's my favourite.

Wow...that bit is so jam-packed in V2!

Some seriously wonderful architecture there, huh? Like in V15.

Very cool silhouette in V1, by the way, with that mellow apricotty sky backing it Smile

Superb series of images Collen. Some wonderful captures. V1 is a wonderful silhouette but is perhaps just a tad too black. Night scenes are seldom totally black and just a hint of detail would I think improve it overall.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
Just my personal opinion of course and NOT intended as a criticism.

Thanks for your advice Ron...We seem to have different understanding of what a Silhouette is .... To me it is the dark shape and outline of someone or something, instantly recognizable in restricted light against a lighter background. ...the dictionary explains it as a two- dimensional representation of the outline of an object....or a dark shape in front of a light background ...it was never intended as a night shot or a sunset shot but as a silhouette....Grin
