A view to a kill....

By ColleenA
Good morning....

I would like to thank Ron (Rontear) and Anthony (Spring2bok) for their UA's much appreciated....
I am glad you all liked the wild dogs, today I finish their story.

The day before on our game drive we saw vultures circling in the sky and discovered the dogs at a kill. There were hundreds of vultures sitting in trees and on the ground waiting to feast. The dogs were still lying too close to the carcass for the vultures to dare come forward. Most of the dogs were fast asleep with full tummies.
V1 uncropped view of the vultures in a dead tree. V4 + 5 are of the kill and V6 let sleeping dogs lie.....one of the youngsters fast asleep with a smile on his face GrinGrin
Have a nice dayGrinGrin

You can almost feel the tension in the vultures, waiting for the dogs to move on. Great set Colleen.

A super series, Colleen, vultures do an excellent job of clearing the land of unwanted carcasses, but not before the dogs have had their fill. Love the contentment in V.6. Carol

A set of images which evoke many feelings - sadness that we carnivores do exactly the same - the dead carcass -
the satisfied look of the sleeping dog and the waiting vultures!
I like V3 best from a photographic point of view but he others tell the story.

I know its the circle of life but sometimes it does seem rather harsh, that said they are still a great set of images.

A fabulous series showing nature at work. The delightful thing about the natural world is that nothing is wasted. First the predators, then the carrion eaters, later smaller scavengers then the flies move in and complete the clean up. It is wonderful. I wish that humans were less wasteful.

A very nice set showing life (and death) on the plains.
I quite like vultures, not so keen on hyenas, but both a vital part of the ecosystem Smile
Great set Colleen. Love V6. He does look as though he is smiling. Cathy

An excellent documentary series taken in the African bush, a fascinating one to view. I watched that programme on vultures last night, they are invaluable to the ecosystem, without them diseases are spread and watercourses are contaminated which leads to peoples deaths
More great shots and vultures to boot (I love vultures)! How wonderful.
Six lovely captures. All your depths are spot on. Well done Colleen.
