Birds of a feather.....

By ColleenA
Thank you for your votes and kind comments and to Prabhas for his UA, all much appreciated.

Yesterday afternoon late we went to watch the grandson play cricket, his school won. I heard a lot of chirping on the field behind us and discovered this group of galah's. They are so pretty with their pink and grey colours. It was quite difficult to get close to them without frightening them away. I think the one was a mother feeding her youngster.
We have moved to a hotel closer to the City for a few days (a nice rest from the grandkids)

P.S The English cricket team are staying in our hotel, I said hello to Graham Swann...

Lovely pictures, Colleen.
Don't get too friendly with the cricket team - they'll have you opening the batting.
Give them a good talking to from me.

Such beautiful birds, Colleen, and how wonderful to see them living free, and not in cages, as so many are shipped around the world for the pet trade. Carol

Galahs.. Cheeky parrots they are. Never try to feed them from hand - they don't see much difference between a fruit piece and a fingerGrin Love numbers 1 and 3, beautiful images. Thanks for sharing them!

Beautiful photographs of beautiful birds Colleen. They seem such characters. Not really much of a cricket fan living in a country that is seldom dry enough to play the game. Used to enjoy watching it on the BBC in the old days when every match ended in a draw but recent developments in the game have put me off.

Morning Colleen ! A lovely set of these lovely birds !! Some serious maternal care taking place there Smile Just finished a 60 km trip down the Breede river with kayaks and today a friend from France comes to visit for a few days - so no photozine for a few more days. Just thought I'd pop in quickly to see what is cooking Smile The Proteas are heading for troubled waters against India here Sad

V3 for me Colleen, I love Galahs, they are beautiful, grey on the ground and a pink cloud in the sky. In the outback when lonely women had a time to speak to each other, by radio, from the different stations it was called "Galah Hour" as galahs make quite a din chatting all the time they are together.

You did well to capture a whole 'clutch' of these Colleen.
I've got two single galah images but not nearly as good I'd have liked.
they are wonderfully colourful.
I like Harriet's story.
