Blood and guts

By ColleenA
Good morning....
Thank you for all your votes and comments and a big thank you to Fred263, Brian65 and Billy (Williamsloan) for their UA's, all much appreciated
As promised some more of the lioness's on their kill. In the past I featured some lion cubs and also the miserable lion that was thrown out of the pride. Well this is his Mom and two sisters, his Moms two new teenage cubs and his sisters two teenage cubs...making a pride of 7. The other sister is now also pregnant. These four cubs consist of 3 females and a male. Sadly they are all already ganging up on him. He managed to grab a few bites of the warthog kill and was then pushed aside, he was laying one side covered in and guts a part they don't usually eat but a small warthog is hardly a feast for 7. In one of the images you will see him to the side of them looking on. Every time he approached they would growl. It really was a feeding frenzy and a sight to behold.
I know LynneJoyce loves Warthogs, so this may make you sad Lynne....in the last version you can see they have discarded his little leg and trotter.....poor little warthog. Incidentally warthog are a favourite meal for lion....

We got even closer to two males and a lioness the day before, the male walked 2 meters from our Tracker sitting on the front of the vehicle....another days upload.

Fabulous set featuring my favourite African animal but not at its best I fear! Still the lions have to kill to eat.

I'm guessing that the young males are chased off before they get any unhealthy designs on their female relatives in order to keep the gene pool heathy.
Great set of the lions with magic light showing there eyes off. My choice V2. Well done Colleen.

Exactly right.....Their brother was getting up to his tricks so was tossed out, sadly this guys time is soon as well, hopefully he will find a friend like the other lion did....

---- Now i saw V4 and V5 too. Oh ,good heavens , i think i wouldnt like to go so close. I have seen lions only in the zoo , and i felt even there some how scary, when a lion once tried to open an iron gate in a zoo in Stockhom. (didnt succeed obviously) --- Jukka.

Another awe inspiring set Colleen !! Poor little guy, but I guess that's the way of it ( meaning the lion cub , not the warthog, ). The adult females really have a wild look in their eyes.. Wildlife photography at it's best... terrific work !!!
