Blue mosque Istanbul

By ColleenA
Good day....
A very sad day for the world with the shooting down of a Malaysian passenger jet close to the Ukraine\Russian border,. So many senseless deaths....298 people including 27 Australians
A few images from our time in Istanbul...The Blue mosque is Istanbul's most photogenic building was the grand project of Sultan Ahmet 1, whose tomb is located on the north side. The mosque's wonderfully curvaceous exterior features six minarets and is particularly striking lit up at night. V2 a bigger view if the mosque. The other versions are other famous mosques around Istanbul.
Have a great weekendGrinGrin

An excellent set Colleen. I like the composition of V1. V4 also interesting in that I am surprised the mosque isn't maintained more with so many plants being allowed to grow on the roof.

Another fine set, Colleen and I agree with your lead. I like the diagonal stack of domes, subdued in tone with the gold shining through.

With so much beauty in this World Colleen, as per your wonderful images, why so much senseless destruction and disregard for human Life? Sadly we tend to blame the whole nation who do these things, when in reality, the ordinary people of those nations are just like us and want to live there Lives as we do, but their Governments are hell bent on greed and War, and all under the name of religion!
