Chinese lantern

By ColleenA
Good morning...
Thank you to Marktc for his UA for my Frozen flower daisy, much appreciated...
Another flower from the game farm...Dichrostachys cinerea known as sicklebush,Bell mimosa,Chinese landtern tree or Kalahari Christmas tree.
The generic name Dichrostachys means "two coloured spike"
It is native to Africa but has been introduced to India, the Caribbean and parts of Southeast Asia.
V2 is a slightly bigger image showing a part of the tree
Summer is a riot of colour in the African bush with many wild flowers, sadly all my images have to be captured from the vehicle as to get out of the vehicle to get up closer for a better pov is asking for a lion to eat me. So I grit my teeth and make the best of a bad job with a zoom lens. I am also only given 30 seconds as Rob gets grumpy as we are there to look for animals and not flowers. Grin
Have a nice day...

A very exotic flower, Colleen. Interesting to hear how it has been deliberately spread to other climes.

I suggest feeding Rob to the lions if he gets too grumpy!Grin Then you can take your pictures in peace.

Great images, Colleen. v1 is my fave. Also, as they were taken from a vehicle, they are excellent. Great narrative too.

A good choice not to risk being eaten by Lions! Considering you have taken this from a vehicle and a grumpy husband moaning in your ear you have managed a great couple of images of what is a fantastic looking flowerTongueGrinGrinGrinGrin
