Good morning...
Hope you all had a good valentines day and to the UK members hope all is ok after last nights dreadful storm.
A big thank you to LynneJoyce, Pentaxpatty,Kuvailija (Jukka), Ed (Glastopcat) and Adrian (Tomcat) for their UA's much appreciated.
Today a young (lactating) female elephant who was on her way to my side of the vehicle...she stuck her trunk into my camera bag ,nosed around then turned around and went back to her youngster. My heart nearly stopped but the ranger was gently talking to me to remain calm. It also fits for Shadow saturday.
V2 is a mono version and the other versions more close encounters with these gentle giants.
V3 and 4 the elephant actually knocked out Trackers cap off his head...very funny afterwards...
V5 and 6 close encounters with some of our friends...
V7 another elephant, another close encounter for our Tracker
Have a nice weekend...our heatwave continues ...36 deg in CT today

Wow, what a fabulous series. V5 is my favourite, such clear focus on the elephant and the people in the foreground make it clear just how close this encounter was.

Stunning set of elephant images, Colleen. V1,5 and 6 are my faves., Interesting narrative. I wonder what the elephant's trunk sniffed into your camera bag.

Cracking set of shots Colleen, i have been interested in African wildlife from been a child, i hope one day to be able to visit and see them for myself, where they all belong in the wild. Zoo's i think have a roll to play in maybe without them some animals would become extinct. But its time the Goverments of the world got a grip somehow to stop the poaching, and destruction of these beautiful animals

Elephants somehow look less threating than other animals but I guess their weight could do a lot of damage.

Kate if you could see them snap a huge branch off a tree in a second that 2 men and a chain saw would take 10 minutes cutting you would realize just how strong they really are. But when they walk through the bush they are as quiet as mice. Gentle giants. Grin

Amazing to see how close the elephants were. They can be very dangerous, but they are also very intelligent so they wouldn't have come that close to you if they sensed any threat from your party. That's not sying you shouldn't be a little bit scared or not treat them with respect/caution.
V1 is superb, though I also like V2 as it works very well, perhaps looks more powerful.
We'd like some of your warmth to dry us out Grin
