Butchers's Bridge

By Jasper87
Another bridge over the Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This pedestrian bridge is named after the butchers' shops in the market nearby and was only opened in 2010. The modern design has two glass walkways at the sides, with two fences of steel wires and wide top shelves/balustrades. The wires, of course, have been used by people to profess their eternal love by fastening padlocks on them. There are also some grotesque statues of frogs and shellfish (supposedly) on the shelves, which have succumbed to these padlocks as well. The bridge in the background is the Triple Bridge again.

Mono or colour - I couldn't decide so you've got both.

Off to Norfolk tomorrow for a few days (daughter's new house!!), back early next week.

A fine capture and the colour version works best for me. I had a similar dilemma with my latest upload.

Enjoy Norfolk (Nelson's County) ~ I know it well!

V1 for me too, for the warm tones in the metal. But I do like V2, it has a 3-D quality. Are you using Nik Silver Efex now??
Thanks for the explanation. I have seen similar examples of this. On the other hand it would be a useful facility for cyclists to park securely...

I first remember seeing these padlocks on bridges in Venice, and have since seen them in other parts of Europe...and even here in West Yorkshire! Smile
A super image, Dave, and good use of depth of field, which makes the subject leap out from the background. After much toggling, I can't decide whether I prefer colour or mono, so it'll have to be half a vote for each! Wink

Best one from your trip so far, I like the shallow DoF which gives the context of the backdrop but emphasises the FG objects. Colour emphasises the locks and so the story of the bridge but the mono enhances the grotesque and suits Halloween! Grin

Lol...what bizarre sculptures Grin In a good way, though. Something very H.R. Giger about them.

I like the detail and light on them in V2. But I prefer the lower noise in the background in V1. So I guess I'd like the mono heads in V2 with the colour background in V1 Grin

Hmm...that might not work though Blush
