Hungry tummies

By ColleenA
Good day....
Thank you so much for the amazing response to my elephant upload, made my experience even more special....thank you to Jukka (Kuvailija), Maureen (HarrietH), Lynne (LynneJoyce), Robert (Jeddahknight111), Netta (Netta1234), Richard (RysiekJan), Peter (Ddolfelin), Heath (Liarsdance), Joan (EMJAYCEE), Ade (Ade123), Kathryn (Kathrynlouise), Patty (Pentaxpatty), Lillian, Walter (Gajewski), Isabel (Chinga), Kate (Irishkate) and Jocelia for their UA's, much appreciated...
We came across the lioness pride looking for a buffalo to kill as the warthog from two days previous was hardly enough to fill 9 hungry tummies...They were walking towards us from the waterhole after drinking...they were successful late afternoon as we found them with a buffalo kill the next morning...
Have a great Sunday

Have added V3 for Maureen to show her how close they walked to our vehicle (you can see the side of the vehicle)....was using my lens in 16mm and could have touched her...

WOW! V1 makes it very clear why they are called a Pride of Lions. Love the use of dof in all three shots, but especially in V1.

Love that lead female and her face, has that grey tinge about her colouring.
An awe set of this pride. V1 for me…...WinkWinkWink

Beautiful set of big cat images - My favorite is V1 . Like the Pov very much ! --- Pretty close they were , though the focal length 270 (405) brings them a little closer ! --- Jukka.

A wonderful set, Colleen - I love the contrasting depth of field between V1 and V2.

Being in the wild not knowing what scene is around the corner is really hard for camera settings. The animals do not wait for you to decide on SS, aperture or ISO....we came around to the waterhole and just saw them walking away up the hill...Our Ranger told us he would rush up to the top and we would get them walking towards us...I quickly cranked up the ISO as was still early light as I wanted a fast SS...was very happy with the result...

The consistent quality of your wildlife images is outstanding.

Whilst I have never experienced the opportunity to shoot such wonderful subjects, I can only imagine how difficult it is to nail such good shots with an unpredictable subject.
