Light at the end of the tunnel

By ColleenA
Well Melburians have done it...after more than 6 months of lockdown with more than 110 days with all Retail shops, pubs/ bars and restaurants closed we have gone from daily Covid cases of 770 in July down to 0 locally transmitted cases. We have never seen the high outbreaks like in the UK, USA and Europe. We locked down early and since March only had 20,232 positive cases and 809 deaths in 5.5 million people. We have less than 100 positive cases of people Still isolating at home.
So as from Wednesday a new Covid normal starts with Retail, pubs and restaurants and gyms and nail bars and beauty parlours opening again. It has been a hard slog but now that we see the rest of the World shutting down again we realise that it was worth it.

This arched walkway is normally full of tables with people enjoying coffee and small meals. Captured last week. See versions Of before images including the colour images. I went with mono today as it signifies the dark tunnel we have been through.

I love these images as they shows how it comes to life when you add people.
Let's hope we get back to that again soon...

Nice series Coleen and I hope your thoughts on local transmissions remain very low as you go through your summer.

Yes thatís what they are hoping. We only have 7 people in hospital, none in ICU so if we do get outbreaks our Health department can track trace and contain them and our hospitals are back to normal business. Also Our borders are closed to tourists and only returning residents are allowed in and go straight into hotel quarantine. We are not allowed to leave Australia for holidays for the next year. Being an island in the middle of nowhere it may just work to keep numbers low until their is a vaccine. That said looks like NZ and Australia will be able to visit on holidays as they have eradicated the virus from their islands.

Well, all seems to have been worth it, Colleen, let's hope it stays that way 👍 Good to know you have light at the end of your tunnel, no signs of any here 😳 A great set, like both mono and colour equally 😃

It is because they have done things right there Colleen! Here we have idiots STILL crowding together in spite of the rules. Good illustration of the situation in your upload!
