New Life

By JohnoP
A very special image taken today! (I must warn you all this is likely to be a series! Wink) Arrived early at my Hare field...only to find a dead adult on the lane...very sad Sad However, as one door closes another opens, so they say......and was blessed to come across this very young Leveret (maybe only a couple of weeks old).

Leverets are born fully furred with eyes open and mobile from the moment of birth! The mother will only visit the nest to nurse the Leveret for five minutes a day.

Hope you like this....a special moment for me! Smile

Thanks again for looking, voting and commenting etc! Smile

Tehee, this would make a great Silly Sunday image, John...!!
What a wonderful moment in time and this is what 'stills' have over 'movies'.
Interesting to learn about the Hare Mum only nursing for 5 minutes a day...
must be a reason for this - to encourage the wee Leverets outside and feed themselves?
A series, you say? Bring it on; can't wait, if this is the measure of your day in the Hare field.

A simply delightful image, Jon, sad that you found a dead hare in the lane, had it been killed by a car or shot? Carol

Thanks all for your votes and amazing comments, and to Ali and Carol for your awards! Smile

Carol...in answer to your question....the farm lane is completely private....we had been there at 6pm last night and no sign of it then and we were there at 7am today when we found it Sad. No signs of anything obvious whatsoever...maybe just 'it's time'....who knows....Sad
