The Royal exchange

By ColleenA
Good morning from a cold cape Town brrrrr
We are finally home after 32 days on the go,5planes,8 trains,10 hop on buses,8 different beds and 60 taxi rides...and I haven't counted how many images I capturedBlush No wonder i feel I need a holiday.

A big thank you to Herman for his UA for my Blown away flower

Today's image is one of the places I visited with Angela Seager in Manchester...The Royal exchange is a grade 2 listed building built between 1914 - 1921. The site was used for commodities exchange primarily but not exclusively for cotton and textiles. It has 3 beautiful glazed domes which I show you in the lead image. The building was designed in the Classical style and they used a lot of Portland stone. I just loved the icecream colours they used on the walls. I have included an image of the old trading board which is still there today. It now houses a theatre.
Have a nice day....

I love both images. That was a wonderful trip Colleen and you managed to get so much into it. Who planned it.
We are the early birds on this site. Herman, you and Netta. Africa and farm life gets us up early even when in my case I have been away for years.
Beautful colours in the Royal Exchange.
Now go and see old scarface for me.

I have included an image of the old trading board which is still there today................ Actually Colleen, Manchester Police believe it is now on its way to South Africa and have issued a warrant, I'd lay low if I was you GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Fantastic portrayal of the architecture and yes, the Ice Cream colours do it justice; unusual for its time period.

Shoes off, slippers on, and chill.
