Wow !! That was quick Colleen. Thanks very much for your award.
I am quite pleased with the result from my lens and it is straight from the camera apart from a little boost to the contrast.
However,I just know that a camera club judge would tell me I have went over the score with the blurring in Photoshop !!

Interesting intro re. your method, Mick, and the limited focussing has worked well to concentrate the eye on the near bolt.
Fine colours and textures too.

Love the textures Mick, and the 'real' rust tones
but it is your dof used that has the magic look to this

Don't say that you're coming round to my way of thinking about depth of field, Mick? or as I would like to call it, shallowness of field.
A prime example of what a prime lens can do. I would have expected the need for a contrast increase for digital purposes; otherwise this is crisp where it needs to be and progressively softer everywhere else. Lovely tones on this lens too.

Bill

There's something about solid metal, visually, tactilely if the word exists. Plastic ain't the same.

Isn't it great handling old lenses. They're so solid. I love them, but the weight!!!
Nice shallow dof on this one.

Ah those were the days...think I've forgotten how to twiddle with my chunky bits! A fine bit of rust here - thought I might have found some at the railway museum yesterday, but think they've cleaned it all up....Sad

I know the feeling Grin I got a Minolta MD 50mm 1.7 a few weeks back for my E-PL3. I'd forgotten the weight of old lenses! Although I doubt mine is as heavy as yours. But the MD to M4/3 adapter is metal too so that adds some more! It's oh-so-nice using that lens, though.

Well done on your 40 year old lens being in such good condition. You've looked after it well Smile

Lovely sharpness you've got with it wide open, I have to say. Well impressed, Mick.

Glad it's just an old lens and not a rusty old lens Wink
